Worringen Church

Living in a quiet beach town, surrounded by so much natural beauty and wonder, I often find cities hard to deal with after a few days. I’m usually walking and working in bare feet, so I experience city streets and the amount of people, traffic and buildings in one area as quite intimidating. I also notice how it effects my thoughts differently when staying in such places for extended periods of time. I find it increasingly important to make some quiet time alone to reconnect. Normally I would go to the beach or some creek to do this, but this is not so easily achieved in the hustle and bustle of city life.

I have never been a religious person, but I always really loved the atmosphere of holy buildings of worship. There’s something about them that makes me feel safe and calm, a place that unsparingly commands quiet. so whilst in Germany this beautiful building became one of my places to unwind from all the external activities that were going on around me.

“Within each of us, there is a silence, a silence as vast as the universe and when we experience that silence, we remember who we are.” – Gunilla Norris

A man adds a candle and perhaps a prayer in Colognes main Cathedral. This building had amazing old dark atmosphere and I like how the long exposure gave him a warm ghostly effect.
